The oldest of five siblings, my Raleigh, NC childhood home was a revolving door of friends and family. My best memories are summertime dinner parties where no one took themselves too seriously, but everyone was well-taken care of. In the midst of making sure the herd of children had popsicles, my mother managed to remember to stock up on her friends’ favorite wine. This is the kind of atmosphere we create at our events. Every guest feels welcomed, surprised, and delighted. The little details are the big things.
Charleston, SC refined my hospitality, event, and design skills and will forever be my place of inspiration. Two College of Charleston degrees, Magnolias, the Renaissance Historic District, Mediterra Catering, and the Wickliffe House paved the way for my jump to the Durham Convention & Visitors Bureau in North Carolina, and finally the birth of Gather Together in 2010. Today, with my incredible husband, two angelic boys, three mischievous hound dogs, and a home in charming Mebane, NC, my life is fast yet fulfilling and oh-so-full of celebration. My cup runneth over.

Mebane (kinda rhymes with “heaven!”) is a small town in central North Carolina between Greensboro and Raleigh. We have planned events across NC, VA, SC and will travel anywhere.

Yes! A majority of our clients are planning from afar. We are accustomed to planning “local” destination weddings (you live here / most guests don’t) and “leisure” destination weddings (mountains, coast, other dream location). We adore creating a full weekend experience for you and your guests! We coordinate stationery, event décor, and activities to create a cohesive flow of wedding events. + How many meetings, calls, or emails are included in your event planning packages?
We don’t put a limit on or provide a suggested amount of correspondence. We want to make sure you feel entirely comfortable throughout the planning process. Meetings, phone calls, and emails will vary based on your location, the wedding location, your needs, and your preferred method of communication.
+ Do you offer wedding day ("day-of") coordination?
We offer wedding day coordination booked within a limited time frame from the date of your event:

+ What is your pricing?

+ Is there a minimum event budget you work with?
No, however, the events we plan (those you see in our portfolio) typically range from $500-$1200 per guest for all ceremony and reception related items. This is not a requirement. Unsure about your budget or what to expect your wedding to cost? We are expert budget creators and trackers.
+ When in the planning process should we hire you?
With or without a venue, anytime is a good time to get started, and the sooner, the better. We have planned events from start to finish in as little as six weeks up to as long as two years. We specialize in events on a short time frame and have a thick rolodex of connections to make the magic happen. Check our availability for your event.
+ What is required of us during the planning process?
1) Decision-making – we provide you options, expert advice, and any information you might need, but ultimately, decisions are yours when it comes to choosing food, décor, music, and any other wedding-related items.
2) Open communication – real honesty about likes/dislikes, budget, etiquette questions, and more is so important. Place your trust in our guidance and discretion – we are here for you!
3) Trust – you have hired us as experts to make your wedding dreams come true. Our experience and passion for quality work will efficiently and joyfully guide you through wedding planning.
+ I already have ABC Catering booked. Do you still work with them during the planning process?
For any vendors you already have booked, we will still work with them during the planning process.
+ Our friends have highly recommended XYZ Florist. Can we work with them?
Personal recommendations mean a lot these days, and people come forth with them left and right during wedding planning! Take caution, however, as we know from experience that any vendor can do it right once. We don’t work with the same wedding team every event, but we do know how to choose the best team for your style and budget. For this reason, while we will consider anyone, we have final discretion on vendor selections.
+ Do I need to talk directly with our vendors?
Occasionally. To be most efficient, we make the initial contact and work through contracts directly with the vendor, conveying your wishes and vision. If we find it necessary, we may schedule a meeting, but in general, we provide full service design. When it comes time to talk through photography, videography, and music preferences, we may put you in touch directly with the photographer/videographer/band leader. Depending on your schedule, we can do a mock-up to firm up design selections and give you a preview of the event design. + Do your events have a signature look?
Custom is our standard. We have neither a rental inventory, nor a must-use list of event partners, because we believe in designing for our couples’ specific wants and needs. Our signature look is your look. We are inspired by travel, food and drink, interior design, and tradition, and guests at our couples’ weddings frequently comment, “This is SO them!”
+ How do we know when it’s time to meet with the caterer? Choose table linens? Give the band my song list? Etc…
We are the guides to your entire wedding planning process. Some companies claim “full service,” but they leave you wondering what you’re supposed to be doing. We take care of every detail related to the ceremony and reception. For anything that’s your responsibility, rather than giving you a checklist for the entire wedding – entirely overwhelming – we give you small task lists in a timely manner. We even include reminders for things like bridesmaid dress shopping, buying your wedding rings, and obtaining your marriage license. Rest assured, we will keep you on track with deadlines.
+ What will my wedding day be like?
To say “the best day of your life” is an understatement. You have one responsibility: being present for every beautiful moment. Rest assured on this day that all of the carefully laid plans are happening, and anything unexpected will be swiftly and easily handled by the Gather Together team. + How many planners/designers are on your team?
Chelsey is the lead planner/designer for all Gather Together events, ensuring the highest quality and consistently beautiful work. Our event producers assist with planning and logistics (checking band availability, scheduling transportation, etc.) and carry out much of the behind-the-scenes work.
